Height difference between two points

The basic principle of levelling involves determining the height difference between two points. to eliminate systematic errors related to atmospheric conditions or to residual line - of -sight error ' the instrument should be about equidistant from the two points.

the height difference is calculated from the difference between the two staff readings for the points A and B respectively.
